Company B named themselves the "Wilcox Farmers." Of the 88 men who enlisted there were 37 who did not come home. Captain Ripley Welsh was killed on the first day of fighting at Chickamauga. Many died of sickness and many died in battle. Some died in northern prisons and are buried there. Grove Hill was the site of a recent reunion of decendents of members of the regiment.
