"Homecoming 2011 was unique in that the number of newcomers was perhaps one-third of the congregation," says Maud Garrick, Coordinator. "This is indeed an indication of good outreach among families interested in renewing acquaintance and learning more about their genealogy. The Lower Peach Tree Homecoming has proven to be an event for mini-reunions among families and this is heartwarming. We welcome this and will work with families wishing a special feature in the booklet and at the service."

Jan Garrick was a co-founder of the LPT homecoming and has served as emcee for nearly every service. There was an obvious sigh of deep regret throughout the group when Jan, who lives in Jackson, Mississippi, announced that she would no longer be our emcee for homecoming. A round of applause in recognition of her wonderful service resounded throughout the sanctuary.
Jan says, "...seeing so much deep joy in the face of the homecomers shall be my forever memory of the Homeccoming."
The register of attendance at the first homecoming (1981) was listed in this year's souvenir booklet. Honored were those who had attended the first homecoming and were again present at the 30th Anniversary celebration. There were 19 who stood with joy at the altar and had a star seal placed on their name tags.
Receiving special recognition among these “stars” was Helen Earle Outlaw Megginson of Thomasville, Alabama, who has many years shared with us the joy of growing up in Lower Peach Tree.
