LEADERS OF THE SERVICE

Surrounded by lovely flowers which always adorn the altar, talented musicians provided inspirational music. Ann Dozier is the faithful pianist, and Phebe M. Lee leads the singing. Some years there is a choir. This year Gene Stabler sang the "Lord's Prayer" to close the church service.

ABOUT THE PROGRAM

In addition to the church service there is a program of sharing of news and historical memories and the display of items preserved from past years with Jan Garrick ably serving as Master of Ceremonies.

Last year the theme was "Quilts" and the program also included presentations by Ted Davis and Art Green.

DINNER ON THE GROUNDS

A most enjoyable part of homecoming is the opportunity for fellowship among those who have roots in LPT or have relatives and friends who in some way have a special interest in the community and the church - including the cemetery which is beautifully maintained by Ted Davis of Catherine.

Dinner on the grounds provides a relaxed but exciting time for the gathering of relatives, renewing old acquaintances, and making new friends. It is an event which many eagerly anticipate from year to year. And many faithful "homecomers" manage to make the trip annually.

SOUVENIR PROGRAM

To preserve memories of the day and to reach those who cannot be present at homecoming, Maud gathers enough personal news, photos, and reports of historical and special events to fill a 24-page souvenir program. This is an extremely time-consuming task involving contact with dozens of people, numerous letters and emails, and hours spent editing and typing material. This year 300 programs were printed with a cover in color. The program begins with the "Order of Worship" and includes a listing of memorial contributions to the church and various homecoming funds.

REQUEST FOR MATERIAL

Remember, you can always contribute items for the souvenir program and for the web site. Your comments, suggestions, news items, and photos provide the basis for our publications.
